How to Join Us

NFAS Archery Coaching

We offer fully insured NFAS coaching for beginners and for experienced archers from other organisations (Archery GB, BLBS, EFAA etc.) that are new to NFAS field archery.

Unfortunately we are not currently able to provide separate taster or ‘Have-a-Go’ sessions.

Please Note:
We welcome crossbow archers but all crossbows must be approved for shooting under NFAS rules – see here for the requirements.
Compound crossbows are not allowed at the club.

Experienced Archers

We offer NFAS coaching sessions for new club members who already have archery experience but are new to NFAS field archery. If you are an active archer with Archery GB, BLBS, EFAA etc, we can arrange some coaching sessions with an NFAS coach.

These sessions cover the NFAS shooting rules, course safety, scoring systems, familiarisation with the competition bow style categories and NFAS sign-off.

Existing archers that already have current full NFAS membership are welcome to join the club at any time.

Beginners

If you’re new to archery you’ll need to complete a beginners course with us before joining. Training courses typically run over 4 to 6 weeks, led by an NFAS coach. Courses are scheduled on various dates throughout the year according to coach availability . Once scheduled, dates are emailed out to those on our course mailing list and places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please contact us if you’re interested in attending a course and we’ll add you to the mailing list.

During the course, you will learn to shoot a recurve bow on the practice butts and have the opportunity to shoot 3D targets in the woods.  We have bows to suit all ages, both right and left-handed.  We welcome beginners under ten years old, subject to a successful taster session and agreement by the coaching team.  In our experience, it is unusual for children under eight years old to be able to maintain the extended focus and concentration required.

To help us cater for your needs, you will need to complete and return a booking form in advance.  Payment must also be received to secure your place. On the day, all we ask is that you come dressed for the weather and keen to learn.  Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the beginners course and once they have graduated – we find families have most fun when the grown-ups shoot too!
